On Thursday, May 11, 2023, there was an extra special announcement made at the Culpeper Technical Education Center (CTEC). The announcement included the winners of the first annual CTEC Dual Enrollment (DE) Scholarship. A committee reviewed applications for a $500 scholarship from students currently enrolled in a Dual Enrollment at CTEC. While the committee noted that all of the applicants were very deserving, they narrowed the applicants based on merit, financial need, and quality of their application.
These scholarship was made possible due to the funds raised by the CTEC 5K Trailblazer Trot and Mashed Potato Mile back in November. The race and the scholarships were the idea of Eastern View High School Senior Hunter Lutz who brought the concept to fruition as part of his senior capstone project for Mountain Vista Governor’s School. Awarding the Scholarships was the final piece of the project. Lutz was able to attend the afternoon award presentation.
