On February 27, 2026, members of Eastern View High School’s EVents Team traveled to Shenandoah University’s Conservatory to attend a performance of Catch Me If You Can, gaining a firsthand look at collegiate-level theatre production.
A highlight of the visit was seeing EVHS alumna Samantha Fry, Class of 2023, serving as the primary sound board operator for the production. Following the performance, Fry led students on a behind-the-scenes tour of the Conservatory, offering an in-depth look at backstage operations. During the tour, students met with the production’s sound designer and stage manager, providing valuable insight into the technical and logistical aspects of university-level theatre.
Students also had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about pathways into theatre technology careers.
Robert Dwyer, EVHS math teacher and EVents technical director, reflected on the experience: “It was a really cool teacher moment to listen to my former student give a tour to my current students of the Conservatory where I went to learn tech theater.”
Students in attendance included Carter Hodgson, Kaylee Clark, Daniel Montano-Reyes, Lanie Naccarato, Noah Johnson, Zachary Harms, McKayla Underwood, Naomi Johnson, Ryleigh Corbin, Emerson Hodgson, Taylor Coppage, Kaylee Johnson, Mollie Wright, Illiana Disbrow, Riley Kitts, Samantha Bennett, Willow Reck, Chloe Reck, and Emily Kauffman, accompanied by Mr. Dwyer and alumna Samantha Fry.
The EVents Team plays a vital role at Eastern View High School, managing sound, lighting, recording, and event logistics for major school productions and activities. Their skills will be on display during TheatreEV’s upcoming production of Tuck Everlasting, scheduled for March 27 and 28.
