Riannon Lacy, an EVHS senior and Mountain Vista Governor’s School student, has earned the prestigious recognition of National Merit Finalist. To achieve this, she first scored a 1500 on the PSAT, only missing 20 points total, putting her in the top 1% of scores in the state of Virginia. This earned her National Merit Semifinalist recognition, after which she submitted an application including her academic record, an essay, and her qualifying SAT scores.

Lacy then became a finalist for the National Merit Scholars, awarding her several scholarship opportunities from both the National Merit Corporation and her university of choice. With a bright future ahead, she plans to attend Virginia Tech, majoring in aerospace engineering. “I hope to be able to work on rockets and airplanes in the future,” she explained. “I want to help engineer better travel across the world and into space.”

During her time at Eastern View, Lacy has been involved in a number of activities while completing a rigorous academic program. She is an active member of the FFA, the treasurer of National Honor Society, and a member of both the National Spanish Honor Society and the National Science Honor Society. She has also been a member of the EVHS EVents Team since 2023, assisting with the technical side of musicals, concerts and other EVHS events.

Before she soars to new heights in higher education, Lacy reflected on her time at Eastern View: “These last four years have been amazing, and while I am excited to graduate, I will miss all the activities and opportunities I had at Eastern View. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to be considered for this scholarship, and the money I receive will greatly help me pursue my dreams with less financial stress.”
